In His Studio:

Jonathan Ward teaches violin, viola, chamber music, group lessons, and theory with the Conservatory. Lessons with Jonathan cost $60 per hour of instruction. He is accepting students at this time. Jonathan will teach students ages 5 and up, though with younger students he requires a parent to be present in the lesson, and will teach any level of student. In Jonathan’s studio, students are not required to work towards exams or participate in music festival, but are strongly encouraged to participate in recitals. He teaches classical music. Jonathan requires students to supply their own instrument, but beginners not expected to have one until the second lesson. Music books must be purchased as required. Jonathan requires his students to practice, and will discuss what time commitment is appropriate with each student.

Biography:

Jonathan Ward has been principal Viola of the Regina Symphony Orchestra since 1989. In addition he teaches at the University of Regina’s Conservatory of Performing Arts and for the Regina Public Schools Fiddle Program, which takes place in three inner city schools.

He is currently an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre. His compositions have received a significant number of performances, some of which were recorded for national broadcasts on both CBC Radio and Radio Canada. Outside of Canada, his works have been performed in the United States, Mexico and Europe, including orchestral performances in Vienna and Salzburg.
