The modern mental health system in Japan will be reviewed. Ethical problems related to culture including stigma due to psychosis, paternalism and problems related to mental health care will be presented.
Biographical Statement
Dr. Murakami is a psychiatrist who is Professor of Social Work at Meiji Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan. In 2003 he was awarded the Japan Psychiatric Promotion Prize by the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology.
