Theatre Rental Rates and Terms
 

Theatre Rental Rates and Terms

University Theatre, sometimes referred to as the Main Stage, has a seating capacity of 396-425. The rates listed include general lighting, one podium with the use of a microphone and the use of two dressing rooms.

Please note: GST is applied against ALL listed rates.

RATES:

Standard Rate
Weekends/Holidays $900/day
Weekdays $700/day
Setup/Rehearsal $350/day

Non-Profit Rate
Weekends/Holidays $680/day
Weekdays $540/day
Setup/Rehearsal $250/day

Ticket Printing
Assigned Seating $50 first performance
General Admission Tickets $30 each additional performance

Technician Rates
First 8 hours/day
(min 3 consecutive hours per day)
$30/hour
9+ hours/day $50/hour
Stat Holiday $50/hour

Additional Lighting $8/fixture/day
Wireless Lapel or Handheld Microphone $40/day
In House Video or Data Projector $150/day
12' x 16' Double Truss Rear Projection Screen $75/day
Rosco Dance Floor $100/day

TERMS:

Insurance

  • Your organization is required to obtain its own insurance.  This insurance shall include public liability, property damage and personal liability insurance with respect to your event at the University of Regina.  It shall provide coverage for personal injury or death or damage to property of others including the university and its employees to an appropriate limit so that you have adequate protection.  A recommended amount is $5 million.

Technicians

  • There MUST be two Technicians present for each event and it is recommended that there be three.
  • The primary responsibility of the Technician(s) is to ensure that the interests of the Faculty of Fine Arts are protected. The technician(s) will provide instruction and advice to the renter on the operation of the lighting and sound equipment, and provide access to locked spaces. The Technician(s) is not responsible for designing lighting or stage management of the event and remains an employee of the University of Regina.

Lighting

  • Arrangements for additional lighting MUST be made a minimum of 7 days in advance.
  • There will be a charge of $8 per fixture per day if U of R fixtures are used.
  • If the renter requires lighting that is already set for another event, then the renter will incur the labour cost of returning it to original setting.
  • Under no conditions should the renter make any lighting alterations without a technician present.

Sound

  • Any additional sound requests MUST be made a minimum of 7 days in advance and is subject to availability.

Orchestra Pit

  • The Orchestra Pit can be adjusted from its default position to increase/decrease seating and stage area at a cost of $1,000. The availability of this option is dependant on the affect it has on other users and is at the discretion of the Theatres Coordinator.

Hiring of Other Persons/Equipment

The use of other equipment, props, set pieces, design, stage management and stagehands will be charged for at a prearranged amount. Arrangements should be made a minimum of 7 days in advance. Failure of renter to advise the University of their requirements at least 7 days prior to the rental may limit the available resources.

The Shumiatcher Open Stage Theatre:

The rates listed include general lighting, one podium with a microphone and the use of two dressing rooms.  The seating capacity varies depending on the floor plan.
