CANADIAN PLAINS STUDIES PROGRAM
Head: D. Gauthier
This program provides opportunity for structured study across a number of academic subjects in a way which enlarges the student’s understanding of life on the Plains. Provision is made for programs to be individually composed around the student’s main interests at all levels of study in the Faculty of Arts from entrance year to the MA.
Undergraduate students are advised to seek planning assistance as soon as their interest in a Plains program is evident to them. However, since all undergraduate degrees require some compulsory courses, an effective Canadian Plains program can be constructed after one or two semesters have been completed.
Undergraduates with an interest in Canadian Plains Studies should most seriously consider taking a Plains Studies major in conjunction with a major in an academic discipline, either in science, social sciences, or humanities. A Plains program major can be built to fit well with all of the disciplines which are participating partners in the Canadian Plains Studies program.
Students who have achieved good standing in an undergraduate degree can in most instances complete an MA program in two years.
The undergraduate program in Canadian Plains Studies is not being offered at this time.
