JAPN 110
Intensive Japanese for Beginners

This intensive course focuses on developing communicative skills. Students progress from survival communicative competence to functional competence, within a relatively narrow range of topic areas in a cultural context. Introduction to the Japanese writing system. Students may not receive credit for JAPN 110 and JAPN 100, 101, or 102.
JAPN 210
Intensive Intermediate Japanese
9:16.5-5.5
This course aims at developing an intermediate level of listening and speaking proficiency along with appropriate levels of reading and writing to achieve communication in the target community. In-depth cultural discussions with ample examples and practice. Students may not receive credit for JAPN 210 and JAPN 200, 201, or 202.
Prerequisite: JAPN 102 or 110 or permission of the Language Institute.
