Volunteer Opportunities

Want to help out?

In order to successfully put on a conference of this magnitude, we need your help! People are required for the following duties:

- Information Desk Volunteers

- AV Assistant

- Banquet Greeters

- Poster setup

- Extras

For the following positions, volunteers should have a minimum of a Masters (or equivalent) degree.

- Session Chairs/Judges for Oral Presentations

- Poster Presentation Judges

Please contact our volunteer co-ordinator Adam Belton at either adam.belton@uregina.ca or urgsa@uregina.ca if you are interested in helping out (and specify if there is a particular task that interests you).

More Information

The conference takes place March 12th - 13th, 2010. There will be a Volunteer Orientation on the evening of Thursday, March 11th, and we invite all of our volunteers to attend this session.

Tentative duties include:

Chairs / Judges for Oral Presentations (1 person per room, dress is semi-formal):
- Introduce Each Speaker
- Give 5 minute warnings
- Evaluate presentations
- Ensure that schedule is followed for each session

Information desk (2 people per shift; dress is semi-formal)
- Register participants and provide presenter package and information
- Direct Photographer and media to appropriate places
- Ensure participants know where they should be
- Be available to assist/direct/inform public about event (and show them to where they would like to go)

Session coordinator(s):
- Ensure 5 min warning signs in each room
- Ensure water for participants
- Provide chairs/judges with pens / evaluation sheet / Schedule / Time lines
- Remove excess water from rooms
- Compile Judging material and submit all the day forms

Poster session (Friday evening):
- Put up posters and signage
- Direct people to where they need to be
- Ensure AV equipment is working
- Tear down posters and signage

AV Assistant (Friday/Sat):
- Ensure AV equipment is working and ready for presenters
- Help out if any presenter has technical difficulties

Banquet Volunteers / Greeters (dress is semi-formal):
- Placecards; put up/take down the banner/balloons
- Registration/ticket table and seating/coordinating/greeting guests

Judges for Poster Presentations:
- judge each poster based on outlined criteria
