Policy Workshop Series

We are pleased to release the Fall 2011 Policy Skills Workshop schedule (Click to download a PDF of the Fall 2011 Policy Skills Workshops).

Please Note Pre-Requisite: Public servants must complete the Dynamics of Public Policy Development introductory workshop prior to attending any other workshops (this workshop was formely named Orientation to Public Policy Development). Public servants who have completed GSPP or JSGS 801 Governance and Administration are exempt from this workshop prerequisite.

Target Audience: These workshops are aimed at policy employees who would benefit from greater skill development in areas related to policy development and those responsible for policy program development and delivery.

All workshops will be held in Regina in the Training Room, SpringBoard West Innovations, 120 - 2 Research Drive, directly beside the University of Regina main campus (Click to download a PDF version of the SpringBoard West Innovations map).

Autofill: JSGS online registration system is now activated for an "auto-fill" capability. To activate this option, simply enable the cookies in your internet browser and check the "Remember Me" checkbox at the bottom of the online registration form. The next time you register for one of our events, the online registration form will automatically populate with your contact information from your previous registration. The autofill option is not recommended, and should be avoided, if you are using a public computer.

Certificates: The Public Service Commission of Saskatchewan and the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School are pleased to present certificates of completion to individuals that complete 6 (or more) Policy Workshops. Individuals do not need to request certificates. On June 14, we presented the second grouping of certificates to 41 individuals at a Policy Forum with guest speaker Evan Solomon. If you have any questions, please contact us at js_training@uregina.ca

Comments from workshop participants:

"An excellent blend of the historical/political context of public policy with new and current issues."

"I found the Policy Process and the Institutions and Actors to be the most useful - it gave me an understanding of the foundation and how the decisions are made."

"Although this was labelled an orientation course, as a senior (in years of service) civil servant I appreciated the chance to have a "brush-up" from very competent and well-recognized professionals."

"Very effective presentation; no changes are required."

"The co-facilitation approach is invaluable."
