| The
University of Regina is undergoing dynamic change as we complete a quarter-century as an
independent, degree-granting institution and prepare to enter the new century. The
University is building a stronger
senior administrative team under the leadership of our new president, Dr. David T. Barnard. As part of
this revitalization, an extensive academic planning process is under way
and we are engaged in a major funding review.
The face of the University of Regina is also changing as renewal begins to take shape on
campus. In 1996, the MacKay
Report on University
Revitalization recommended the province's universities establish a faculty
renewal/voluntary severance program to create the flexibility needed to hire new staff in
strategic areas. As a result, a total of 81 faculty are expected to retire between
1996 and 2002, most in 1998 and 1999. As our human resources grow, so, too do our
campus, our research and
our programs.
