Archer Library study space bookings temporarily restricted

Due to the mechanical failure of some ventilation equipment servicing the Dr. John Archer Library and Archives, the library has been advised that it must immediately reduce the number of people who are allowed access to the main floor Commons.

To ensure the safety of students and staff, restrictions have been put in place and will affect all bookings effective immediately.

As a result, the number of common area computer stations available for student use is reduced to 7. The eight exam rooms remain available for e-proctored exam purposes only. Solo study table bookings can no longer be supported, and future bookings will be suspended or canceled until repairs are complete. Students are reminded that there are 160 solo study spaces spread throughout the University which do not require advance booking.

In person Archives appointments will also be suspended until repairs are completed. Curbside pickup of Library materials will be unaffected and will continue as usual.

All bookings at the library will be adjusted to ensure total capacity is not exceeded.

Students who have booked a computer or those who have a scheduled appointment will be notified of any required changes to their booking/appointment and offered alternatives as space allows.

Students who wish to book a computer station should continue to use the online booking system at: https://uregina.libcal.com/r

Replacement parts for the failed ventilation system have already been ordered and will be installed by Facilities Management as soon as they arrive.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this change may cause; however, we are implementing these restrictions to help ensure the library's remaining ventilation capacity is able to clean/refresh the air and ensure the ongoing health and safety of students and employees.
