Donations to the Archives
Archives and Special Collections accepts materials from university
faculty, staff, and outside individuals and organizations. For
information on the types of materials we collect, contact:
Mark Vajcner
University Archivist (for donation of archival materials)
Conditions of Donation
All donation offers receive serious consideration by Archives and
Special Collections. Donations of material are accepted with the
understanding that the University becomes the sole owner, and reserves
the ultimate right to determine retention, location, organization,
and other considerations related to its use or disposition. For archival
materials copyright remains with the donor/creator.
Tax Receipts
All gifts to Archives and Special Collections are considered
charitable donations, and are eligible for tax receipts based on
appraisal for
fair market value. In order to issue a tax receipt Archives and Special
Collections requires the donor to sign a donation agreement.
Archives and Special Collections arranges appropriate, fair market
appraisals for all donations that involve tax receipts.
Because of limited staffing, and the extensive amount of work required
in organizing an archival collection, no guarantee is made that tax
receipts will be issued in the year of donation.
