Spatial and Numeric Data Services (SANDS)
Spatial and Numeric Data Services (SANDS) provides access to quantitative computer-readable research data and digital spatial data from various disciplines. SANDS staff provides assistance with identifying, locating and retrieving data files in the collection. Similarly, assistance in acquiring and locating data from other collections is also provided. Data files are restricted to use by current University of Regina students, faculty and staff. Please note and observe any restrictions which may apply to specific datasets.
Access is provided to the following kinds of Numeric Data including Spatial Data:
Microdata - Information on each individual, household, business, etc., responding to a survey. Microdata consist of rows and columns of numbers and are manipulated with data software such as SPSS or SAS.
Aggregate Data and Tabulations - Summary-level data usually presented in the form of tables, often referred to as statistics.
Time Series - Observations of the same variable (e.g., unemployment) made over time, usually at regular intervals such as weekly, monthly, yearly, etc.
Mediated Data - Password-protected and must be accessed with the assistance of SANDS staff.
Spatial - Both the location of a geographic feature and its attributes. Spatial data includes digital maps, aerial photography and digital satellite images and can be manipulated in desktop mapping or GIS programs.
Statistical - Includes library, general and government statistical databases.
Software - Required when viewing or working with data accessed via SANDS.
