The University of
Regina Students’ Union, an organization incorporated under the
Non-Profit Corporations Act of Saskatchewan, is an autonomous body that
represents students to the University, the city, and the government. The
Students’ Union also offers services to students to improve the quality
of their lives while they attend the University.
The University of Regina Board of Governors
endorses, as general principles governing relationships between the
University and the Students’ Union in financial matters, the following:
Students should be regarded as competent in the
management of their own affairs.
The Students’ Union should be financially
independent.
In operating its programs, the Students’ Union
must be accountable to the source of its funds.
Financial relations with the University should be
conducted on a "sound business basis."
An agreement is in place such that the University of
Regina collects certain Students’ Union fees from students and remits
them to the Students’ Union.
