CRITERIA FOR AWARD OF TITLE "EMERITUS"
The honorary title "Emeritus" is defined to mean:
"To hold after retirement from academic
rank an honorary title corresponding to that held during the last active
service."
In the spirit of this definition, the following policy applies at the
University of Regina:

The honorary title "(retiring academic rank)
Emeritus" may be awarded to University of Regina faculty members
retiring in good standing from an academic rank.

The award shall be made automatically by the President, provided
that the retired faculty member's academic unit so recommends to the
President.

The President, following consultation where necessary, may also
grant the title "Emeritus" to other persons retired from the
University.

The honorary title "(retiring academic rank)
Emeritus" shall carry as basic privileges:
i) The right to use
the title "(retiring academic rank) Emeritus";
ii) The right to
continue to hold a faculty identification card with all the rights and
privileges pertaining hereto;
iii) Continued membership
on Graduate Student committees where appropriate;
iv) Such other privileges
as the University may from time to time grant.
