Parental Guide for Summer Sports School

Parental Contact Information

Please ensure that your account information, including phone and cell numbers are current. This is very important in the event that we have to contact you in an emergency situation.
To update your account information, log into your account and choose the "My Account" tab at the top of the screen. Under "Account Options", choose the "Edit" button beside your name.

Camp Behaviour

We want everyone to have a great time at camp. Below are some guidelines to help ensure we all enjoy our time at camp. Please review with your child...

  • Be respectful of other campers, the staff and university property and the property of others
  • Be kind and encouraging in your responses to others, don't be critical of their work, they are excited to share and we are excited to see what everyone is creating

General Camp Procedures

  • Mask usage is mandatory for all camps (subject to change without notice)
  • Camps will take place indoors and outdoors, when the weather permits and activities are appropriate. Please dress your child according to the weather.
  • Cleaning protocols are in place in all U of R camps for the safety of the participants and the staff

Communications

We will be sending out an email with important camp information prior to camp. If you have questions please reach out to us at khs.cs@uregina.ca

What to Bring to Camp

  • Minimum of 2 masks for your child (they will be changed at least every 4 hours, or if they become wet or soiled, this is subject to change without notice)
  • Water bottle (water bottle filling stations are available, there will not be drinking fountains available at this time). Parents are asked to send a water bottle each day labeled with your child's name.
  • Snack/Lunch that they can open and eat independently
  • Appropriate dress for the activities is required (ie. Sport camp – runners, not flip flops, or heels). Camps will be outdoors as much as possible, when the weather permits and activities are appropriate. Please dress your child according to the weather
  • Sun Block & Bug Spray: You child will participate in outdoor activities everyday (weather permitting). Please apply on your child prior to arrival to camp. The instructors will not apply sunscreen &/or bug spray
  • Hat
  • Gym Bag/Backpack: Please label with your child's name.

Please Note: Items such as video games are not appropriate for Summer Sports School or during extended program times.

Sign in/Out Procedures

  • Camp drop off/pickup will be in Gym 3.
  • Photo ID will be required on Sign out
  • Staff will check your child in/out and will fill in the initials of the person signing them out (please have only one person walk your child to the drop off/pick up location)
  • Anyone picking up/dropping off your child needs to be identified to the camp (through the registration form, these can be added at any time prior to the first day of their program). This includes a contact number for this person, in case there is a need to conduct contact tracing
  • Wherever possible parents will not enter the building with their child. Sign in/out will be handled outdoors at the designated location (information will be included in the email you receive prior to the start of your child's camp)
  • Spectators are not permitted to attend any children's program, even if the program occurs outdoors
  • Late Arrivals: We encourage campers to arrive each day by 8:45 a.m. The programming begins promptly. Should you arrive later than 8:45 a.m. please go to the intramural office (CK 172) to have you sign in your child. The staff will take your child to their group upon arrival.
  • Parking: Complimentary parking for drop off and pick up has been arranged in Lot 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Should you receive a parking ticket outside of these hours, no appeals will be received. If you park at a meter, you will be required to pay for parking.
  • Early Departures: Should you need to pick your child up early, please inform camp at the time of drop off or contact us via email khs.youth-programs@uregina.ca or by phone 306-337-2247. You can also notify us at drop off.

Extended Hours

Extended hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are no planned activities during this time.

 

Food

We do not have a meal plan for Summer Sports School. Please pack a lunch and snacks for the full day Summer Sport School programs, please ensure that lunch and snacks can be opened independently. Please note: We do not have refrigeration or a microwave available. We have a busy active schedule so please ensure that your child has a substantial breakfast and is hydrated.

Valuables

Participants are asked to leave all valuables at home. We will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items while at camp.

Discipline

It is our mission to provide a healthy, safe, secure and respectful environment for all participants and instructors. All participants are expected to follow the behaviour guidelines and interact appropriately in a group setting. Please review the following behaviour guidelines with your child(ren) prior to attending.

All children are expected to participate in the scheduled activities and follow the directions of the staff at all times.

  • Children are expected to stay with their group at all times.
  • Children must be respectful, honest and considerate of other participants and staff.
  • Children must be respectful of the property of the University of Regina and of other participants.
  • The use of profanity, vulgarity, or acting a lewd manner will not be tolerated and may be cause for immediate expulsion.
  • Verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated and may be cause for immediate expulsion.
  • Stealing or damaging property of staff or other participants will not be tolerated and may be cause for immediate expulsion.

The staff will redirect the child to more appropriate behaviour. If the behaviour continues, the child will be sent to the Summer Sports School office and reminded of the rules. If necessary, the office will contact the child's parent/guardian informing them of the incident(s). If the behaviour continues, the parent will be contacted immediately and be asked to pick up their child. Summer Sports School reserves the right to ask a parent to pick up a child early, temporarily suspend a child or in extreme cases, expel the child. If the child is expelled, a pro-rated refund will be provided.

Privacy Policy

I understand that the University of Regina collects and creates student information ("personal information") under the authority of The University of Regina Act, and in accordance with The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Saskatchewan) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada), for purposes of recruitment, admission, registration, and the administration of the University and its programs and services. Some of this information may be reported as required by federal or provincial authority.

I have read, understood and agree to the terms of this agreement. My participation or that of my child's in any programs/camps at the Centre for Continuing Education, the University of Regina Rams, and the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies signifies acceptance of the above.
