PIMS Distinguished Lecture

Tue., Sep. 24, 2013 2:30 p.m.

Location: Classroom Building 418

  • Speaker:  Ragnar-Olaf Buchweitz (University of Toronto)
  • Abstract: The classical McKay correspondence relates the geometry of Kleinian singularities to the representation theory of finite subgroups of SL(2,C). We will review the fascinating history. An intriguing application leads to an explicit classification of finite subgroups of GL(2,C) through decorated extended Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams as we will explain.
