Title: Analysis of Survival from Malignant Melanoma (69 kB) PDF file

Abstract:

The Malignant melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer, develops in the cells that produce melanin. The risk of melanoma increases as people age. The average age of people when it is diagnosed is 63. But melanoma is not uncommon even among those younger than 30.

The data set has four variables: Sex, Age, Tumour thickness, and Ulceration. The main response provided in the data set is the survival time in days post-surgery. Using the data, I test the differences of survival of four factors. These will be tested via the Log-rank, Gehan, Fleming-Harrinnton and Peto-Peto tests. I fit the Cox proportional hazards regression model and Investigate interaction effect to the model. By Testing for Proportional Hazard Assumption, I find out the time varying effect and determine it.
