SWEEP - Saskatchewan Waste Electronic Equipment Program
Effective Feb. 1, 2007 resellers of desk top computers, notebook computers, printers and televisions, in or into the province of Saskatchewan are legally required to be part of a product management program (Waste Electronic Equipment Regulations under the Environmental Management and Protection Act) approved by the Saskatchewan Government.
SWEEP (Saskatchewan Waste Electronic Equipment Program) is the only approved product management program. SWEEP is a non profit corporation established by manufacturers, retailers, and other stakeholders to collect and recycle waste electronics in a responsible manner.
The SWEEP program will be funded by an Environmental Handling Fee (EHF) that is remitted to SWEEP at the time of sale of designated products in or into the province of Saskatchewan. It is intended that the purchaser/enduser pay the EHF at the time of purchase. This is a one time fee and is not claimed back at time of drop off for recycling.
