Frequently Asked Questions

How can I pay for my textbooks?

We accept all common forms of tender including cash, cheques, money orders, Interac, Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Why are my textbooks so expensive?

Much effort goes into the production and distribution of your textbook. Costs include research, publishing materials, marketing, author royalties, publisher administration costs and bookstore costs.

How can I reduce costs?

You can help cut costs by purchasing used books whenever possible, and using e-books and rental books. You may not find all your books in these versions but when you can it may reduce your expenses.

The Bookstore has partnered with two companies to offer e-books and rentals. We carry a wide variety of e-books each term which can be purchased in-store. For more information on e-book terms see http://www.uregina.jumpbooks.com .  The Bookstore now offers in-store textbook rentals.   Selected Rental books will be available in-store.   If you can't see a title in store that you would like to rent, check with our online partner at: http://uregina.rentsbooks.com.

The Bookstore also strives to have as many used textbooks as possible for students.  We purchase from our students during textbook buybacks, four times a year, as well as order from wholesale companies to boost our used inventory.

Why are my books out of stock?

There are many reasons a textbook may be out of stock.  It can be publisher delays, late orders, sold out stock, increased enrolment, etc.  If the Bookstore runs out of stock due to our error we do our best to get more stock in as soon as possible including shipping overnight whenever possible.

Where are the used books?

Used books will be on the shelf with the new books for a given course. The Bookstore cannot control how many used books we carry. It depends on availability through buybacks and wholesale companies. The prices for used texts are listed on the price tags. You can expect it to be approximately 25% less than new. Used texts are subject to the same refund policy as new texts.

New and used textbooks can be sold to the Bookstore through buyback four times a year if that title/edition is to be used in the following term and the Bookstore requires stock. See our Buyback page for full details. Please note that faculty make all textbook and edition decisions. The Bookstore will be buying back books throughout the rush period. Check back often for the arrival of additional used copies.
