From August 20-22, 2018 community-based researchers, community representatives, and students from across Canada are invited to the Community Research Unit's Summer Institute. These three days will be filled with practical, intensive learning and skill-building for those interested in community-based research. Whether you are a well-experienced practictioner or someone simply curious to learn more about participatory research, we are sure that you will find the Summer Institute rewarding!

The theme for the Summer Institute is Change Makers: Tools, Techniques and Strategies for Community-Based Research.

Here is a selection of topics that will be covered:

  • What is community-based research? What are the rationale, principles, and partnership development strategies used in community-based research?
  • How do you recruit and retain diverse community participants?
  • How can research institutions and community partners find mutual reward systems and sustain motivation to persist through the complex research process?
  • How can university instructors and community partners co-create research projects that benefit students and the community?
