Certificate in Economics

The certificate is intended for students who wish to signal potential employers that they have taken a considerable number of courses in the general area of economics.

Course requirements

  • ECON 201 and 202
  • any five other ECON courses (one of which may be ADMN 340, ECON 100 is highly recommended, but not required)
  • ENGL 100
  • any two approved elective courses from the following list:

  • ANTH 301
  • ECON xxx (any Econ course not already used in program)
  • GES 120, 205, 226, 303, 322, 326, 422, 424
  • HIST 200-202, 240, 316-318
  • INDG 228, 229, 236, 360
  • MATH 122, 222, 322, 329
  • PPE 200
  • PSCI 220, 230, 240, 311, 343, 344
  • SOC 201, 203, 222, 300, 306, 308, 310, 314, 325
  • SOST 201, 203, 306, 307
  • STAT 160, 200, 251, 252, 254, 289, 354

Other courses may also be eligible. But for any course not on this list you will need to obtain the written approval of the Department Head.
