Programs

An undergraduate degree in History is an excellent preparation for careers in law, education, information management, public service and business.  Students develop an enhanced understanding of the range and variety of the human experience and of the processes that govern historical change.  They also develop effective written and oral communication skills as well as an ability to synthesize and analyze information.  An Honours degree represents an advanced level of academic achievement and is an excellent preparation for graduate school.  The Master’s degree requires students to undertake thesis research leading to an independent and original contribution to historical scholarship.  It may serve as a stepping stone to a PhD and an academic career.

The Department of History offers a Bachelor of Arts in History, a combined Bachelor of Arts in History and Economics, an Honours degree in History and a Master’s degree in History.
