New Students

Welcome to the Faculty of Arts! We're very happy you chose to study here.

Your next step will be to select classes for your first semester and get registered in those classes. We have advisors to help you through this process. For first-time students we hold New Student Group Advising Sessions. In these sessions, groups of new students meet with an academic advisor to get an overview of the Faculty's academic program requirements and regulations and to be introduced to the many student services available on campus. Students also learn how to use UR Self Service, get tips on how to build their timetable and register for courses. You'll also receive information and guidance on how to understand and use the Undergraduate Calendar. Group advising sessions usually last about one to two hours.

Another great way to get ready for your studies in the Faculty of Arts is to attend the University's Orientation Day, which is held during the week before classes begin in the Fall semester. You (and your parents if they'd like to come) will be given a tour of the campus, get a sense of what it's like be a student at the University of Regina, and meet faculty members and students working in your area of interest.
