Insight Speaker Series

The Faculty of Business Administration hosts a monthly speaker series during the fall and winter semesters - Insight: UR Business Distinguished Speaker Series. The speaker series is sponsored by the Office of the Vice-President, Research and features high profile members of the business community who are from Saskatchewan and who have made a national or global impact in business.

Following is a list of Insight speakers since the series was started in February 2013:

		Wednesday, February 4, 2015 Harold MacKay "Shaping Canada's Financial System - from Saskatchewan of all Places" Harold Mackay is counsel to the law firm if MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman. Harold has extensive corporate governance experience. In the public sector he was the lead director of the Bank of Canada and the chair of the board of the Federal Business Development Bank. In addition he has served as a director of eight listed Canadian and US public companies. He is presently a director of The Toronto-Dominion Bank and the non-executive board Chair of Domtar Corporation. Harold is also a commercial arbitrator and has been an active participant in Canadian public policy issues. He acted as a Special Representative of the Saskatchewan Government in a review of post-secondary university education in the Province. He also chaired the Task Force on the Future of the Canadian Financial Services Sector, served as the Clifford Clark Visiting Economist in the Department of Finance of Canada, and was the vice-chair of the Wise Person's Committee which reported to the Minister of Finance on Canada's securities regulatory structure.
		Tuesday, November 25, 2014 Kyle Jeworski "Cultivating Success: Perspectives from a Homegrown Business Student Turned Agriculture Executive" Kyle Jeworski is the President and CEO of Viterra North America. As Viterra’s leader, Jeworski is responsible for the company’s grain elevator network, key port facilities and employees across North America. He has been with the company for nearly two decades, playing pivotal roles in projects that have driven historic transformation in Canada’s agricultural sector. Holding a BAdmin from the University of Regina, Jeworski has built his extensive business background by growing Viterra’s domestic and international presence through Eastern Canadian expansion efforts, business acquisitions in the US and Australia and successful integration efforts in overseas markets, including China, Japan, Germany and Singapore.
		Tuesday, October 21, 2014 Pam Klein "Living a Multidisciplinary Life" Pam Klein is the President of Phoenix Group, Saskatchewan’s leading award-winning advertising agency. In this world of message bombardment Pam delivers insight and communications strategies to help businesses succeed. She leads her talented team by example: striving for excellence, creating a rewarding work environment and giving back to the community. Klein's background is a tapestry of rich experiences. She’s a graduate of the U of R (BA) and University of Manitoba (MEd) and certified Professional Director from the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy. She’s worked across Canada, in Italy and China and is proud to call Saskatchewan home.
		Thursday, January 30, 2014 Ken Sunquist "A New Global Perspective, a Saskatchewan Perspective" Ken Sunquist is the 2013 Alumni Crowning Achievement Award recipient for Lifetime Achievement. He is an international strategic business advisor, management consultant and corporate director. Sunquist worked in Public Service and for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as Assistant Deputy Minister (Asia and Africa) and Chief Trade Commissioner for Canada from 1973 to 2011. His interests have focused on international business, government relations, leadership issues and working extensively on values and ethics for individuals and organizations.
		Wednesday, November 27, 2013 Terry Allen "Confessions of a Deal Junkie" Terry Allen is the Founder and President of Pivotal Capital Advisory Group. Allen has spent the majority of her career in corporate and investment banking. For more than 25 years, she has provided capital to, and raised capital for, many groundbreaking projects. Allen graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1985 and holds the CFA and ICD.D designations.
		Tuesday, October 22, 2013 Gary Bosgoed "Entrepreneurship & Community Engagement: The Power of Doing Business Locally/Globally" Gary Bosgoed, P.Eng. is an Industrial Systems Engineer with thirty-five years’ experience in management, management consulting and consulting engineering. Bosgoed is Senior Vice President and Location Manager of WorleyParsons’ Edmonton location with approximately 2,300 personnel in eight business units.

		Wednesday, April 3, 2013 Glen Metzler "Farm to Pharmaceuticals: The story of growing poppies high in thebaine on the Canadian Prairies" Glen Metzler is the President, managing director, founder and key developer for API Labs, a pharmaceutical and chemical company, whose focus is bringing commercial poppy production to Canada. Metzler has a lifetime of experience in commercial agricultural production. Born in Pincher Creek Alberta, Metzler has completed programs in agricultural business and business administration at Olds College, Lethbridge Community College, and the University of Lethbridge. Metzler has been involved with research and development across numerous industries in Canada and internationally.

		Thursday, March 7, 2013 Frank Hart "Why Investors need to Think Globally" Frank Hart is the President, marketing director, and Chief Risk officer for Greystone Managed investments. Greystone is a Regina-based firm handling nearly $34 billion in investments for pension funds, endowments and trusts. Holding a BA from the University of Saskatchewan, and an Honours degree from the University of Regina, Hart has an extensive business background, including executive management and consulting for a wide array of industries, including information technology, biotechnology, transportation, finance, and economic development.

		Thursday, Feburary 7, 2013 Murad Al-Katib "The Future is Here" Murad Al-Katib is the President & CEO of Alliance Grain Traders Inc, one of the largest lentil and pea splitting companies in the world. Al-Katib oversees the company’s operations of nearly 30 facilities throughout the world and its international connections with over 100 countries. A strategic business thinker, Murad Al-Katib changed the face of the Saskatchewan pulse industry. Founder of SaskCan Pulse Trading in 2001, he led its path to becoming a world leader in value-added pulses and specialty crops around the globe.
