Master of Indigenous Education (MIED)
The Master of Indigenous Education degree aims to:
- prepare students as leaders in pedagogical practice in Indigenous Education;
- provide students with the required skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to become effective Indigenous educators;
- prepare students to conduct research with Indigenous peoples;
- provide students with opportunities to learn, to understand, and to experience different forms and systems of Indigenous knowledge; and
- equip students with the competencies and abilities to integrate Indigenous knowledge into school curricula.
Teachers currently working in band or urban schools with high Indigenous student populations and those interested in Indigenous education, are the target groups for this program.
Students can complete this degree in one of three program routes:
- Thesis
- Project
- Course

Application & Admission
FGSR Online Application Process
There are two application deadlines for this program: February 15th for admission into the Spring/Summer or Fall terms, and October 15th for admission into the Winter term. In addition to the Faculty of Education's application requirements all applicants must also meet the admission standards of the Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research. Admission is ALWAYS subject to availability of space and supervision.
