The ECE Summer Institute provides students with:
- A space to engage with other early childhood practitioners;
- A background in practice, theory, and research in early childhood education;
- An opportunity to infuse these understandings of early childhood education with an understanding of creating equitable and just learning contexts and experiences by shifting curricular, policy, and structural decisions based on the hopes and dreams of children, families, and communities; and,
- Opportunities to strengthen or re-imagine practice through play, art and narrative.
The Early Childhood Education subject area within the Faculty of Education, University of Regina is pleased to sponsor the 2013 Early Childhood Education Summer Institute. The Office of Research & Graduate Programs, Faculty of Education, University of Regina coordinates the Institute.
Credit: There are two separate 3-credit graduate level courses and one 3-credit undergraduate level course organized into an Institute format. Graduate students will register in the two closely co-ordinated courses to earn 6-credit hours through participation in the Institute. Bachelor of Education or Special Students will register in the undergraduate course. All three courses are in the area of curriculum and instruction in early childhood education.
Graduate students whose Canadian universities are covered by Saskatchewan Universities Graduate Agreement or the Western Deans' Agreement may also register for the Institute.
Cost: Regular tuition fees apply. (Tuition may be paid at UR Self-Service) There will also be a separate Institute fee that covers costs related to activities, guest presenters, and all course related supplies including textbooks. Textbooks will be available from Patrick Lewis at least one month prior to the start of the Institute.
Institute fee: Payable by May 13, 2013: $250; after May 13, 2013: $295.

The Institute fee covers the cost of activities, guest presenters and all course related supplies including textbooks. Textbooks will be available from Patrick Lewis at least one month prior to the start of the Institute. Tuition is separate from this fee and is due by the first day of classes.
