Welcome Sessional Lecturers to the Faculty of Education

Thank you for taking up teaching with us this semester. We appreciate and value the experience and expertise you bring with you to the lecturer role in our teacher education programs. The Faculty of Education is committed to enacting social and ecological justice, indigenization, sustainability, cultural and linguistic diversity, life-long learning, service, outreach and the collaborative processes that flourish in a community of caring and mutual respect. We are all working together to provide the best education possible for the people who will teach in Saskatchewan, across Canada, and internationally.

We know that some of you have taught for the Faculty of Education many times in the past. Some of you will be teaching your first course with us, while others are supervising our students in the schools, or teaching labs. The Faculty's mission embodies commitments to student success, research impact, and community engagement as articulated in the University of Regina Strategic Plan "peyak aski kikawinaw". We would like to invite all of you to join our community of teacher educators, and to participate in the intellectual life of the Faculty as much as you are able to do so. We realize that many of you have full time jobs elsewhere, that many are raising families, and that many are pursuing further graduate studies. You are busy people. But we want you to know that you are welcome to join us whenever you can. We will try to keep you informed of Faculty social events.

In the meantime, the Office of the Associate Dean will try to provide you with connection and support:

  • Do you have questions about parking?
  • Do you need a tour of the campus?
  • Would you like to be in closer touch with someone else who has taught the course you are teaching?
  • Do you have questions about the final exam schedule?
  • Are you unsure about the place of the course you are teaching in a student's program?

We would be happy to answer your questions and to help. Please call Laurie Lindsay (306-585-5353) or me if we can assist you in any way. The Faculty of Education is grateful for your participation in the work of educating teachers.

Best wishes,

Patrick Lewis, Ph.D.

Associate Dean, Faculty Development and Human Resources, Faculty of Education
