SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) Program Master's Scholarships

  • Internal Submission Deadline: November 15 (set annually)
  • $17,500 for one year

The SSHRC CGS - Master's Scholarship is awarded to Canadian students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies in the Social Sciences and Humanities.

To be eligible, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and must be applying for support to pursue your first graduate degree. You also must be a full-time student.

Applications must be completed using the SSHRC Online application. We recommend that students utilize the website if possible as that information is updated more frequently. You must submit official transcripts with your application.

If you are currently registered at the University of Regina you must apply through the university process. Applicants not currently registered, but who were registered between January 1 of the current year and the application date, must apply through the university process.

SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) Program Doctoral Scholarships and Fellowships

  • Internal Submission Deadline: October 30 (set annually)
  • CGS Doctoral Scholarships: $35,000/year for 3 years
  • SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships: $20,000/year for up to 3 years

The SSHRC Doctoral Award is awarded to outstanding Canadian students for doctoral studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

To be eligible, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. At the time of taking up the award, you must have completed at least one year of doctoral study or Master's degree, and be pursuing full-time studies leading to a PhD or equivalent. You must be a full-time student.

Applications may be downloaded from SSHRC. You must submit official transcripts with your application.

If you are currently registered at the University of Regina, or have been since January 1 of the current year, then you must submit your application through the university process. All others must apply directly to SSHRC by those published dates (see SSHRC's website).
