Iran: A Puzzle for Canadian Foreign Policy

What's next for Iran? How did Iran's future look at the end of 2019, and how has that view changed since? What, if any, role can Canada play in providing a positive influence within the region? Dennis Horak - one of Canada's strongest diplomatic voices in the region - will discuss the challenges facing Iran both domestically and within a very tense Middle East.

Dennis Horak has served as Canada's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen (2015-August 2018), and his overseas assignments included Stockholm (1989-1990) and Warsaw (1990-1993). He has also held positions with the United Nations Division and the Division of Peacebuilding and Democratic Development in Ottawa. He returned to the Middle East as Head of Mission in Iran from 2009 to 2012. Before returning to Saudi Arabia as Ambassador, he was, from 2012 to 2015, Director of the Middle East Division. Horak holds a BA in Political Science from York University and a Masters from the London School of Economics.
