Join us for a new year of Philosophy Café! This term we have talks lined up with our department's classicists.
Dr. Gillian Ramsey, Assistant Professor of Classics (Campion College), will give a talk called "Sharing Ideas Among the Hellenistic Philosophers"
There is some remarkable evidence for the exchange of knowledge between philosophers and scientists in the Hellenistic world. Yes, in an age without Zoom or email, these thinkers managed to communicate their ideas and build on each other's theories to advance some of the major breakthroughs of ancient scholarship. Join us in exploring the communication and social networks of these Hellenistic philosophers.
