Title: Developing a Framework for Communications Encouraging Personal Budgeting
Purpose: This research illustrates how a framework can be developed and used to guide communications in the absence of an existent theoretical model that can inform the process.
Findings: Significant data emerged, based on which the keywords have been revised, themes and messages were identified, and a comprehensive framework for personal budgeting was proposed.
Practical implications: Designers of such initiatives can use this model for inspiration, to proceed when theoretical frameworks are not available, to design solid interventions based on available data, and also to contribute toward bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Social implications: In the personal budgeting context, individuals suffering from financial distress and living paycheck-to-paycheck can benefit the most from the proposed framework.
