The Path to a Vaccine for COVID-19

The world is anxiously awaiting the development of a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19. Researchers around the globe are working on a rapidly growing number of vaccine candidates, many of which are moving quickly to clinical trials. This panel will present an opportunity to consider important legal, policy and ethical considerations. Topics will include the role of open science in the drug discovery continuum, issues associated with emergency use and pre-approval access, and clinical trial ethics with a focus on the World Health Organization's recently released guidelines.

Moderated by Barbara von Tigerstrom, Professor, College of Law, University of Saskatchewan and Amy Zarzeczny, JSGS Associate Professor, this panel includes:

- Dr. Tania Bubela, Dean, Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University
- Dr. Claudia Emerson, Director, Institute on Ethics and Policy for Innovation McMaster University
- Patricia Zettler, Associate Professor of Law, Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law

This event has been approved for 1.5 CPD hours, by the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
