Truth Commissions and the History of Indigenous Child Removal in Settler States: Discussing Genocide in Aotearoa NZ, Canada, and Australia
Dr. David MacDonald, University of Guelph, will be giving a public talk on how Australia's Bringing them Home and Canada's TRC and MMIWG reports have laid the foundations for a larger discussion of settler state genocide against Indigenous peoples.
In this talk, Dr. MacDonald will also explore to what extent the NZ Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care has the capacity to engage with the issue of genocide against Indigenous peoples.
