“My favourite memory is meeting my future husband at the Beerfest event,” says Brigitte (BA ’10, BACEd ’10).

Alumni have their own special relationships with the Owl. Whether, like Brigitte, you met that special someone or you have fond memories of cramming for exams over a plate of nachos, we want to hear from you. What’s your Owl story? Send us an email at uralumni@uregina.ca and you’ll be entered to win some great Owl swag. The draw will take place at the Owl on October 21 at a birthday bash featuring live entertainment, an open mike, food and drink, and some shenanigans sure to create a slew of new memories.

Location: The Owl, Riddell Centre, Main Campus

Register now for the party of the decade!

Maybe your Owl is the trailer that lived beside Campion College, when smoking was allowed inside. Or perhaps your Owl is the one known by some since 1997 as the “new” Owl, where lineups frequently snaked out the doors as students stopped by to release stress. Some things never change.

Regardless of which Owl you called your own, on any given day or night, you will still see students dancing, enjoying a drink, playing pool or sharing a meal. There’s something wonderfully reassuring to know that even after 50 years, the Owl still functions as the hub of student camaraderie on campus.

Between classes, Jeff Greenslade (BSc ’01, BEd ’03, MEd ’12) worked at the Owl for three years and looks back with great affection. “We would do table service during the day and sling drinks on Fridays. Of course, I seem to recall that we also did our fair share of celebrating at the end of every successful semester. Happy 50th!”

Whatever the Owl means to you, we want to know! Send us your stories to uralumni@uregina.ca. Got photos? We’ll take those, too. And please, join us on October 21 – it’s free and it’s going to be a great night. Make your way down memory lane and enjoy one of life’s greatest pleasures: connecting with old friends at your Owl.
