Foreign Affairs Expert Colin Robertson to Discuss Canada’s Complex US Trade Situation

Media Advisory Release Date: March 27, 2018 10:00 a.m.

Media are invited to an Open Minds public discussion featuring Colin Robertson, Vice President and Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, a renowned centre of expertise on global affairs.

Robertson’s talk will explore Canada’s newly complicated trade relationship with the US – its main market – in the wake of President Trump’s protectionist policies. As well, Robertson will outline the ways that Canada must exploit its brand potential to other international markets if it is to continue to prosper as a trading nation.

The event is put on by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Regina, as part of the Open Minds series of public talks.

Colin Robertson is a former Canadian diplomat and was a member of the teams that negotiated both the Canada/US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as well as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). He is a frequent media contributor to news outlets such as Global TV and the CBC and also writes on foreign affairs issues for the Globe and Mail. He is the host of the Canadian Global Institute’s weekly podcast, The Global Exchange.
