Crucial Conversation

This 2-day, time spaced workshop will provide you with practical tools to successfully navigate through difficult conversations that stand in the way of getting the results you really want - now and in the future.

What makes a conversation crucial?

Every crucial conversation contains three elements: Opposing Opinions, Strong Emotions and High Stakes.

Examples of crucial conversations which managers/supervisors might have include:

Talking to a co-worker about a recurring problem (e.g. being late for work, rudeness)
Talking to someone about not having adequate resources to fulfill your role
Talking to a low performer
Dealing with chronically missed deadlines - despite your best efforts
Critiquing a colleague's work
Giving an unfavorable performance review.

Learning Objectives:

Our objectives for the workshop are to help you achieve the results you want AND strengthen relationships by learning how to:

Avoid, identify, and fix problems before they get out of hand
Identify how you communicate with people when you are under stress
Create safety to talk about just about anything with anybody
Avoid clever stories we tell ourselves to feel good about performing poorly
Speak persuasively, not abrasively, when we are trying to make our points
Understand others even when they blow up or clam up
Engage in crucial conversations when you complete the workshop.
