This Session will speak to the purpose of the initiative to assess members' needs.

 It will address:
- how the Plan's benefits are financed;
- the significance of investment returns to the success of the Plan's funding;
- the degree to which cost of benefits can vary;
- the challenges involved in balancing the often competing funding objectives of benefit security and contribution rate stability;
- strategies to manage challenges;
- the role of the regulator and legislative framework to protect accrued benefits, and;
- corrective measures that can be taken when funding and cost becomes misaligned.
