Communication & Infrastructure Services

The Communication and Infrastructure group is comprised of four units as described below.

Network and Communication Services

Network and Communications Services is responsible for:

  • campus wireless and wired data networks
  • Novell file and print services
  • Telephone and voicemail services
  • Desktop automation, including application deployment and patch distribution
  • Administration of the centralized server backup system

Instructional and Administrative Server Support

Responsible for providing support to:

  • The Groupwise email/calendar system
  • Groupwise/PDA integration
  • Systems support for the University Library Management System
  • Systems support and course creation for URCourses
  • Installation and administration of all central computing servers

Research Server Support

The Research Server Support group provides technical and systems support to research and academic computing at the University of Regina, including computer systems management, laboratory computing, and related assistance with grant applications.

Deployment Services

Deployment Services is responsible for:

  • the effective deployment and recovery of computer systems allocated through the University’s Evergreen program
  • support of the general purpose student computing laboratories
  • configuring smart classroom computer systems
  • support and management of the central computing data centres and associated infrastructure
  • providing second level support for PDA’s described in University policy OPS-080-015 "Supported Hardware, Software and Mobile Devices"
