What is Cyber Security Awareness Month? Cyber Security Awareness Month is an internationally recognized campaign held each October to inform the University of Regina community of the importance of cyber security and what they can do to be cyber safe! Take part by learning about Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) this year.

This campaign is focused on helping all the University of Regina community be more secure online, by being informed and knowing the simple steps to take to protect themselves, their families, their workplace, their school, and their devices with Multi-factor Authentication (MFA).

CSAM 2021: This year, we’re making Cyber Security Awareness Month all about Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) for employees who work at the University of Regina. And in the spirit of device appreciation, we’ve created weekly remote-learning sessions focused on MFA.

Each week, we’ll be highlighting MFA for cyber security awareness month, and demonstrating how MFA can keep University of Regina applications and information safe and secure.

What is MFA?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an additional level of security on top of passwords. Please see our "What is MFA?" web page for full detail.

Why are we implementing it at the U of R?
Passwords alone aren't enough anymore. Passwords can often be stolen, guessed, or compromised - you might not even know someone is accessing your account. Multi‐factor authentication adds a second layer of security, keeping your account secure even if your password is compromised. Discover more reasons, facts, and figures why MFA is being introduced at the University of Regina at Why Use MFA?
