Help! I need Banner Access.

Each time an employee or faculty member begins a new job or changes positions, an Account Request ticket is entered into FootPrints by the department’s FootPrints administrator.  Banner access is requested based on the Banner groups that are attached to a specific position.  This is called Position Based Security.

Once access has been requested by the administrator via a FootPrints ticket, employees will receive Banner access and will be automatically registered in the appropriate mandatory training sessions through the Technology Learning Centre.  Employees are expected to attend training sessions within three months of their start date in order to retain Banner access.

  • If you do not have access to a particular Banner form that you require to perform duties, contact your FootPrints administrator as he or she may need to submit an account change ticket.
  • If you have been registered for Banner training that you feel is inappropriate or not necessary for your position, contact your FootPrints administrator as he or she may need to enter a ticket to remove a Banner group from your position list.

Banner security and mandatory training is assigned based on the groups listed below, under the process diagram.

Banner Access Workflow

 

 

CASPUR Query

  • users are granted a username and password to access Banner and CASPUR reports. Banner access is limited to view menus and no form access is provided. This group is needed to maintain Banner access.  
  • No training required

General Person Query

  • view General Person records including names, telephone numbers, addresses, email, visa, emergency contacts, and biographical information.
  • Training:  Navigation/General Person

General Person Modify I

  • update General Person records including names, telephone numbers, addresses, email, visa, emergency contacts, and biographical information.
  • users can not generate new IDs.

Student Admissions Modify

  • create admissions for undergraduate student
