MacDowell named head coach of Team Canada

University of Regina men’s rugby head coach Robin MacDowell has been named the head coach for the Canadian Rugby 7’s team that will compete at the 2019 FISU Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy from July 3-14.

MacDowell, who has been coaching with the Cougars for more than nine years, will take the reins for Team Canada which sees players from seven different schools from across the country.

“I am proud to represent The University of Regina in being named Head Coach of the Canadian men's 7’s team,” MacDowell said. “We have selected a strong side of young men from coast to coast with a goal of finishing on the podium for Canada.”

Joining MacDowell on the team’s staff are Neil Langevin from Lethbridge and Jessica Smith of Rugby Canada.

Team Canada will begin play against France on July 7.
