Services for Students

Using a toll-free phone number, fax, e-mail, mail, or the online request form, off-campus students may request:

  • Library materials (books, government documents, journal articles)--we provide items from our own collection and, when necessary, obtain items from other libraries via interlibrary loan.
  • Reference assistance - one-on-one support via phone, email, or instant messaging to help you find the information you need.

  • Off-campus access - library barcodes and information to assist with off-campus access to our hundreds of online databases and thousands of online journals and books.

  • COPPUL cards - a special library card that allows you to use and borrow from many other Canadian academic libraries in person (including the University of Saskatchewan)

UREAD works on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to plan ahead and request items and assistance early!

A UREAD brochure pdf is available which describes the basic services.

Services for Staff

Faculty and staff involved in the delivery of off-campus courses (online, televised, face-to-face off-campus) are encouraged to contact the Library for assistance and support. Arrangements can be made for Library staff to assist with:

  • checking availability of appropriate library materials for specific assignments,
  • doing literature searches to identify journal articles on selected topics,
  • checking recommended/required reading lists against library holdings before these are finalized and distributed to students,
  • providing ideas for avoiding or minimizing frustration on students' part when they need library services to complete assignments.
