How to Avoid a Citation

Here are a few tips to help you avoid receiving a citation while parking at the University of Regina. By following these guidelines the most common citations can be easily avoided.

Only park in areas authorized by your parking ePermit.
If you don’t know where to park, reference the Parking Maps or contact Parking Services.

  • M ePermit holders can only park in designated M areas in Lots 1, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13 & 14 on Main Campus
  • M ePermit holders can only park in the designated M area of Lot 23 at College Ave Campus
  • Z ePermit holders must park in their designated lot on Main Campus or College Ave Campus. You can review your Z lot designation through UR Parking Account.
  • “SaskAbilities” permit holders are the only motorists who can park in Accessibility Stalls. Be sure to display your “SaskAbilities” permit or have this added to your account.
  • Marked University Service Vehicles are the only vechicles authorized to park in Service Vehicle areas.
Ensure your license plate information is accurate at all times.
You can manage UR Parking Account and update your license plate information directly online to register vehicles currently being used.
  • You may add up to three vehicle license plates to your parking ePermit but only one vehicle may be parked on campus at any time per parking ePermit.
Parking for only the time allotted for your time zone.
Each time zone has guidelines as to how long you can park there.
  • When parking in a public area, review the signs before you park to ensure the area matches the length of your stay. These limits are a time limit that cannot be exceeded.
  • Zones marked 15 minutes/ 30 minutes/ 2 hours are daily limits and cannot be extended.
  • Use the PayByPhone app on your mobile device or enter your cellphone number at the Paystation to receive reminders when purchased parking time is close to expiration.
  • If you do park in one of these time zone areas and need to stay on campus longer, move your vehicle to another location number and begin a new parking session.
If your vehicle is inoperable and cannot be moved:
Contact Parking Services at 306-585-5555 or Campus Security at 306-585-4999. You will have up to 24 hours to repair and/or remove your vehicle, unless Parking Services or Campus Security tells you otherwise. You will need to provide your:
  • Name
  • Contact information
  • License plate number
  • Issue with the vehicle
  • Vehicle location on campus
Watch and follow the parking signs around you.
All streets and parking lots throughout campus provide signs for clarity and to help eliminate confusion when operating and parking your motor vehicle.
  • When using a public parking area, watch for time limited parking signs.
  • Ensure you park in the designated parking areas.
  • Do not use accessible parking spaces unless you have a SaskAbilities placard or an accessible ePermit.
  • Do not park in “Authorized Parking Zones” unless registered through Parking Services.
Know parking options available to you before coming to campus.
The University of Regina offers various parking options to meet all transportation needs. Parking is only permitted in designated areas on campus depending on the parking privileges required.
  • If you purchased an ePermit, review campus parking locations matching your ePermit.
  • If you are visiting campus, locate the public parking area that will allow you to park for the length of time you need prior to visiting campus.
If you have an ePermit, do not park outside of your assigned parking areas.
Parking at the University is assigned based on the ePermit type of you have purchased. As per the terms of your ePermit, you can only park in designated areas on Campus.
  • If you have an M ePermit you can park in any M Area lot on campus. These are lots spread out to provide easy access to all buildings on the main campus or College Avenue campus without needing to pay for public parking spaces (at hourly daily rates).
  • If you have a Z ePermit or Resident ePermit, you are restricted to a specific lot for parking. If you need to access other buildings, you can purchase time in public parking areas when needed.
  • If you do not have an ePermit, do not park in lots that require ePermits. Instead purchase parking time in the various public parking areas on campus on an hourly/daily fee basis.
Leave the bus stops and bus lanes open for Regina Transit services.
The University has various stops for public transit on campus to allow for affordable alternatives to driving and parking your motor vehicle. These spaces are clearly identified with shelters and signs to notify patrons and drivers of these spaces.
  • Do not stop or park your vehicle within the designated bus stops at any time. There are public parking areas available if you are needing to drop off or pick up passengers or cargo.
Know the difference between “no parking zones” and “no stopping zones”.
These signs may seem similar but what you can do in these areas differs greatly. Knowing what you are allowed to do by understanding the difference between these two signs will help save you from a citation.
  • No Parking Zones: No Parking Zone: Vehicles can only stop briefly to drop off/retrieve passengers in these zones. You may not park your vehicle to wait for someone and cannot use these areas for loading or unloading your vehicle.
  • No Stopping Zones: Vehicles cannot stop in these zones for any reason, including dropping off/retrieving passengers. You may only stop in these zones in case of an emergency.
