Parking Update – October 22nd, 2020
This is to advise that the University will be reinstating on-campus parking fees using a phased-in approach.
Phase one:
Effective November 1st, 2020, normal parking fees will be applied to all underground parkades and all visitor/public parking areas (PaybyPhone/Paystations) and enforcement (ticketing of violators) will resume in those parking areas.
Anyone who currently has an underground parkade permit and elects not to keep it must advise Parking Services that they are relinquishing their permit by October 28th, 2020. Those who wish to discontinue their underground parking should e-mail uparking@uregina.ca. Parking Services cannot guarantee that those same parking spaces will be made available in the future. For those who decide to keep their underground parkade permit, parking fees will begin being deducted automatically from their pay effective November 1st, 2020.
Also effective November 1st, 2020, anyone parking in public (PaybyPhone/Paystations) parking will be required to pay for the time they are parked as appropriate. You can review the Parking Rates on the Parking Services website. The PaybyPhone app can be downloaded free from the iOS App Store or Google Play.
Surface lots designated as “M” or “Z” will continue to be free of charge until January 1st, 2021. Those lots can be located through Parking Maps on the Parking Services website.
Phase two:
Effective January 1st, 2021, parking fees will resume for anyone who is parking in an “M” (no plug-in parking) or “Z” (plug-in parking) lot, including the College Avenue Campus, and for resident parking. No action is required for those who pay for parking via payroll dedication and who wish to maintain their surface parking lot permits. Parking fees will begin being deducted automatically from their pay effective January 1st, 2021. However, those wishing to discontinue paying for parking through payroll deduction will be required to notify Parking Services by December 21st, 2020. Once again, securing parking permits in preferred lots cannot be guaranteed in the future.
Permit holders who wish to discontinue parking in these arears when fees resume may do so by emailing Parking Services at uparking@uregina.ca
Parking Update – October 27th, 2020
The University has decided to close some parking lots or sections of lots and discontinue snow removal for these areas. Parking lots 1, 7 & 8 will be completely closed, while parking lots 10 & 13 will only have certain sections cleared for parking on the main campus.
Closures to these parking areas will become effective November 1st, 2020. The parking lots closed or reduced in size will be physically marked with barricades and/or signage to identify areas were parking is not allowed. We ask that you respect the barricades and do not park in closed parking lots or closed areas.
From November 1st to December 31st, 2020, parking in the open M and Z-designated lots is not restricted by permit type and is available at no charge. Underground parkades will be required to pay for their permit and anyone parking in public (PaybyPhone/Paystations) parking areas will be required to pay for the time they are parked.
As of January 1st, 2021, parking fees will resume for M, Z, and Resident permit holders. M permit holders will be able to park in any open M area and/or the public parking areas of Lots 2 & 14. Resident and Z permit holders may park in any open Z area.
