Education Building Excavation and Construction Project
During the first phase of the project, the contractor will fence off a work area south of the Education Building’s main entrance to accommodate excavation equipment and large trucks. All vehicles entering the compound will be flagged in to ensure pedestrian safety. Please observe all signage and instructions in the construction area.
The Education Building’s main entrance will remain open for the duration of the project, expected to be completed close to the end of December. A drop-off/pick-up area will be available by the site perimeter so that students, faculty, staff and visitors can access the Education Building’s south entrance.
University Drive South will remain open during the construction project, but drivers can expect an increase in large truck traffic during the excavation and later, during concrete-pouring.
Several of the “pay-as-you-go” parking stalls on the southwest side of the main entrance will be within the construction zone and therefore unavailable throughout the project. Existing disabled parking stalls will continue to be available on the southeast side of the main entrance to the Education Building. View the temporary parking changes in Lot 3, click here.
The loading dock on the southwest side of the building will be restricted to couriers and Facilities Management personnel.
The excavation portion of the project is expected to take until mid-November. The repair/reinforcement work will then get underway and should take approximately six weeks.
