Vice-President (Administration) Search

Update 7: 29 September 2022

As Chair of the Search Advisory Committee for the next Vice-President (Administration), I am pleased to announce that after a comprehensive open search, the Committee has recommended – and the Board of Governors has approved – the appointment of Ms Dianne Ford. Dianne will begin as the Vice-President (Administration), on January 1, 2023, until which time Mr Dave Button will continue to serve in the role.

Dianne comes to the University of Regina from the Prairie Valley School Division and has a wealth of professional experience. In her current position as Deputy Director Operations/CFO with the Prairie Valley School Division her primary responsibilities include oversight for Finance, Facilities, Information Technology, Transportation and Human Resources.

Dianne also has extensive experience at the Provincial level having served as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance, as well as, Chair of the Saskatchewan Municipal Board. These positions provided the opportunity to participate and gain knowledge regarding provincial operations. Her duties involved provincial budgeting, negotiations, legislation interpretation and development and leading tribunal processes.

I wish to thank the members of the Search Advisory Committee – Shane Belter, Dr Melanie Brice, Barb Elich, Dr david Gregory, Rebecca Morris-Hurl, Pat Patton, Dr Cheryl Pollard, Dr Michelle Sorensen and Lamont Stradeski supported by Nancy Kazeil and D'arcy Schauerte – for their commitment and dedication during this important search.

Please join me in welcoming Dianne to the University of Regina, and in thanking Mr Dave Button for his outstanding service and years of commitment to the University of Regina.

Sincerely,

Jeff Keshen

Update 1: 24 February 2022

In a February 11 message, I asked for volunteers and nominations to serve on the Search Advisory Committee for the next Vice-President (Administration). As Chair of the committee, per the Out-of-Scope Senior Appointments Policy I am responsible for establishing a diverse and representative committee that reflects the University’s commitment to Reconciliation and to Equity, Diversity, and inclusion.

To that end, and considering both the input received and the broad scope of the Vice-President (Administration) position, I have now established the Search Advisory Committee membership. Joining me on the committee are:

  • david Gregory – Interim Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
  • Lamont Stradeski – Associate Vice-President (Finance)
  • Pat Patton – Director (Security and Operations)
  • Cheryl Pollard – Dean (Faculty of Nursing)
  • Michele Sorensen – Assistant Professor (Faculty of Social Work)
  • Melanie Brice – Assistant Professor (Faculty of Education) and Gabriel Dumont Research Chair in Métis/Michif Education
  • Shane Belter – CUPE representative (Facilities Management)
  • Barb Elich – APT representative (Registrar’s Office)
  • Rebecca Morris-Hurl – Student representative (Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research)

The committee will hold its first meeting shortly, at which time it will recommend whether an executive search firm should be contracted, and whether short-listed candidates should be required to give a public presentation.

The committee will be supported in its work by Ms D’arcy Schauerte from the President’s Office and Ms Nancy Kazeil of Human Resources.

Thank you to the committee members for participating in this important process, and thank you to all who volunteered or nominated a colleague to serve.

Updates on the committee’s progress will be provided as they are available.

Yours sincerely,

Jeff Keshen
President and Vice-Chancellor
