Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest 2016

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is happy to host the 2016 Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest.
Date: Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

- There is a $17 registration fee per student to cover the costs of organizing the event.
- Contest content is covered in the Province Math Curriculum. Problems require creativity, logical thinking or a different perspective. Herein lies the challenge.
- The test can be written in English or in French.
- Students compete in six grade categories:
- Grade 1 and Grade 2;
- Grade 3 and Grade 4;
- Grade 5 and Grade 6;
- Grade 7 and Grade 8;
- Grade 9 and Grade 10;
- Grade 11 and Grade 12;
- The test for grades 1-2 consists of 18 multiple-choice questions, arranged in increasing difficulty, to be answered in 45 minutes. The test for grades 3-4 consists of 24 multiple-choice questions, arranged in increasing difficulty, to be answered in 60 minutes. The test for grades 5-12 consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, arranged in increasing difficulty, to be answered in 75 minutes.
After the Kangaroo competition, students are invited to stay for a pizza lunch and afternoon Math Camp. For more information, please visit the Math Camp 2016 website.
