Pre-Social Work Course Requirements

Students wishing to pursue the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the Univeresity of Regina should first enrol in the 30 credit hour Pre-Social Work Program.  The Pre-Social Work program requirements must be completed in order for students to apply for admission to the BSW program.  Note: Students who will complete the Pre-Social Work program requirements by April 30th of the application year may apply for conditional admission to the BSW in January.

Having completed 30 credit hours at the time of admission to the BSW Program, students would then have 90 credit hours remaining in the 120 credit hour BSW.  However, it is possible for students to complete up to 63 credit hours of study toward the BSW course requirements while in the Pre-Social Work program.  A student who has done this would have 57 credit hours remaining when admitted to the BSW.  The Pre-Social Work requirements may be met with transfer credit

It is strongly recommended that students consult with an Academic Program Advisor in the Faculty of Social Work upon admission to the Pre-Social Work program and before registering in classes . Please also refer to the BSW Program outline in the Undergraduate Calendar.  All course descriptions are available through the Course Catalog.

  • This policy excludes Social Work elective courses and general university courses.
  • Social Work courses that have contributed to completed Social Work credentials (i.e. certificate or diploma) will not be subject to this stale-dating policy.
