Chat with the Library via Chat Widget

During chat hours you can chat directly through this webpage through typing your question through the Ask Us Online Chat Service box on the right.

Library help is available via the online chat service whenever the Library Help Desk is open. For current help desk hours please click here.

What kinds of questions can I ask?
Ask Us is an extension of our in-person, phone, and email Reference Service and can be used for the same purposes: to obtain research help, advice and assistance on any research topic. AskArcher can handle most questions but we may recommend that you email or call a Subject Liaison Librarian if we feel that they will be better suited to answering your question.Additionally, if you have a technology-related question (wireless access, computer problems, accounts, printing, etc.), you may want to contact the IT Help Desk.

What is considered inappropriate use of Ask Us?
We are here to help you find the information you need and to hopefully teach you something along the way. We won't, however, do your homework for you! Additionally, we will immediately block anyone who uses inappropriate or abusive language in their chat messages.

What about privacy and confidentiality?
The Archer Library takes patron privacy and confidentiality very seriously and will never disclose your personal information or request to any external person, body, or institution. Transcripts of chat transactions may be kept for a maximum of 2 weeks and will only be used for statistical and quality assurance purposes before they are destroyed.
