URSU/Library Textbooks for All

Find Reserve Materials Recommend a Textbook
Temporary Unavailable
We are temporarily suspending textbook purchase recommendations until the University returns to regular on-campus instruction. Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot provide electronic access to commercial textbooks that were purchased under the 'Textbooks 4 All’ program.

Recognizing the burden that textbook costs place upon students, the University Library partnered in 2016 with the University of Regina Students’ Union (URSU) to pilot a textbook lending program. Initial funding from the Library and URSU was supplemented with contributions from the Provost’s Office, the University’s ten Faculties, Student Affairs, UR International, Human Resources, the Graduate Students’ Association, and First Nations University totaling over $45,000.

In 2017, URSU made a further contribution of $10,000 and in January 2019, the Library contributed another $15,000 to ensure the continuation of this valuable program.

Students or instructors may request that any required textbook be purchased by the Library and made available as a reserve material.

Loan Period

2 hours (in library use only)

Holds and recalls are not available for reserve materials due to their already short loan periods.

Only University of Regina students, faculty, and staff may borrow Reserve materials.

Overdue/Lost Charges

  • Reserve items will be subject to a $5 per hour overdue fine up to a maximum of $100.
  • Reserve items will be declared lost after 3 days past their due time, and a lost replacement fee equal to their cost + an additional $25 administration fee will be charged.
  • The lost replacement fee + administration fee will be reversed if the item is returned prior to a replacement copy being ordered, but any overdue fines will still be charged.
  • Returns of lost reserve items will not be accepted if they have already been reordered. All related lost replacement fees, administration fees, and overdue fines must be paid.
  • We reserve the right to suspend access to off-campus e-resources for overdue reserve items.

Avoid fines by returning materials to the Library Help Desk before they are due. Reserve items remain charged out to you until a staff member discharges them. Items should not be placed in any of the book return bins. Reserves cannot be renewed.
