Library Essentials Classes for Winter 2013

     

The University of Regina Library will be offering general library instructional sessions to students in January and February of this term. There are presently three different sessions being offered. The first two of these (Finding Books and Finding Articles) are offered at the following times and places:

Descriptions of the sessions:

Library Essentials: Finding Books
This course is geared at teaching you about library services, the general layout of the library and how to effectively use the library Voyager catalogue for finding books, ebooks and other resources. If you are new to the library or have been away from school for a while this may be the course for you. Includes hands-on component.

Library Essentials: Finding Articles
This course is focused on the effective use of the library databases. Our staff will show you key strategies that can help you become an expert searcher. Whether you are in English or Engineering, or whether you are searching in ProQuest or on Google Scholar these strategies will work for you. Includes hands-on component as well as many tips and tricks.

Library Essentials: RefWorks
This tutorial is for library patrons who don't like spending reams of their time creating bibliographies. RefWorks citation management system allows you to import, organize and export bibliographies as an HTML file or directly into Microsoft Word. You can have accurate bibliographies while saving yourself time. This system works for all major citation styles including APA, MLA and Chicago.
